Nature and art based therapy view helping to heal religious trauma and trauma

Catalpa
Counseling

Welcome. I’m happy you’re here.

Catalpa Counseling exists to serve those who bear the burdens of past trauma.

Counseling for trauma, religious trauma, anxiety and stress, grief, and LGBTQ+ identity struggles in Granville, Ohio and Boston, Massachusetts.

I specialize in working with those, including folx within the LGBTQ+ population, who need something different than traditional talk therapy or are nervous about starting therapy in the first place. This isn’t your normal therapy experience.

I combine expressive arts therapy and nature based therapy in the outdoors to address those challenges that talk therapy hasn’t been able to help you address before.

Together, we’ll begin a journey to help you move beyond your trauma and into a life of expression and fulfillment.

Therapy for those nervous about therapy.

Sitting across from a new therapist, sharing your fears and concerns, can feel daunting. I get it- I’ve been there. So, I strive to approach therapy in a laid back manner. This isn’t the therapy of older generations!

I believe that therapy should be collaborative. Meaning, I view myself as having the honor to come alongside my clients to guide, support, and cheer them on as they step into who they actually are. You are the expert of your own story and you’ll never catch me pretending like I have all the answers!

Ready to start this journey, together?

Nature and Art Based Therapy in Ohio and Massachusetts

Therapy should feel alive and dynamic- not stale and boring. Therapy should address you as a whole person rather than addressing only your thoughts (there’s so much more to use than that!).

Talk therapy is great for addressing issues with our thoughts and beliefs. It can also be helpful for starting to do some work with our emotions. BUT! It can only go so far.

This is why I’ll invite you to consider trying therapy through an art or nature based approach. Using approaches that don’t rely only on talking allows us to explore and process emotions on a much deeper level, resulting in more meaningful change.
